The harbour crossing connects Rozelle with the Warringah Freeway at Cammeray. ACCIONA delivers Stage 2, covering the harbour crossing and full tunnel fit-out [1]. The new crossing provides a western bypass of the CBD and relieves pressure on existing harbour crossings [2]. My contribution was to the supporting civil works through RM Civil.

01

Drainage, trenching & services

I operated approximately 30-tonne-class excavators on drainage and utility excavations, trench formation and pipe-laying support. I worked from construction drawings, preparing excavations and maintaining the profiles needed for underground infrastructure.

02

Rock breaking & rock sawing

I used hydraulic rock-breaking and rock-sawing attachments in hard ground. This called for controlled removal, accurate cutting and awareness of the surrounding excavation and service interfaces.

03

Heavy plant, detailed work

I combined heavy excavation with the control needed for pipe preparation and technical civil works. My role was excavator operation; the tunnel-boring programme describes the wider project, rather than my own responsibilities.
